What Is Color?
I just stumbled across this video on YouTube and it's so CUTE!
Plus it made me think about how I would describe colors in terms of sounds/feelings/taste/smell and this is what I've come up with:
Green: Green is the smell of freshly-mown grass on a hot summer day. Green is the first gulp of cold water on an empty stomach; how you can feel it slide all the way down your throat into your stomach. Green is dew on a giant palm frond. Green is the sound of rain as you sit on your back porch on a humid summer night.
Yellow: Yellow is the shriek of a kid being tickled, screaming "stop stop stop" while laughing her head off. Yellow is the smell of honeysuckle and sugar cookies. Yellow is home. Yellow is a giant hug from someone you love dearly, like your mom or your grandma.
Purple: Purple is fuzzy socks and jazz music. Purple is hot chocolate with extra marshmallows. Purple is the smell of cleanness, like dryer sheets or detergent.
Red: Red is being wrapped in a warm blanket by the fire. Red is the smell of cinnamon and cider on a crisp fall day. Red is the sound of an orchestra playing Christmas music, something like the Swan Lake Suite or whatever it's called.
Orange: Orange is that feeling you get at the top of a roller coaster, right before you drop. Orange is long hikes in the summertime, when you're sweaty and a bit dirty, but happy. Orange is the sound of wind whipping through open car windows. Orange is the smell of, well, oranges. Crisp and sweet and dizzyingly delicious.
Blue: Blue, as unorginal as it sounds, is plunging head-first into the deep end, or standing at the edge of the ocean, feeling the wind against your skin before you go in. Blue is lazy summer days and the first snowfall, all in one. It's the quiet moments of life. The calm. But not the calm before the storm, no, blue is more like the peaceful moments that happen sporadically throughout the day, the happy moments that sustain you. Blue is the taste of something cool and crisp and fresh...like cucumbers...or maybe something fluffy and sweet, like cotton candy.
Pink: Pink is crazy and unexpected and a little obnoxious. She's the little sister who annoys the poop out of you but that you love the snot out of anyway. Pink is the taste of every sickly-sweet candy you can find in the grocery store. Pink is the smell of overripe fruit and puppies. Pink is the happy cooing of babies, the gentle bubble of a fountain, the sound of insane laughter.
I loved this video! It's so perfect.-AB
