Please Enjoy my Pity Party!
I wish there was a word for the feeling I get every time I have to go back to college after a break. I wouldn't necessarily call it depression, but it's definitely akin to that. It's hard to describe to other people because I'm truly not unhappy at college, and I have friends there and feel like I'm learning a lot. But still, it just feels like when I'm at home, I'm back to me "real life", and when I'm at college, I'm just wasting time until I can get back to that "real life". Maybe it's proof that I'm really a complete homebody despite claims of being so independent. Or maybe secretly everyone feels this way and just never talks about it. It seems like nobody else at college ever gets homesick, or never cares about their family and friends from back home. But that's ludicrous! You can't just up and leave a place you've loved for 18 years with absolutely no side effects, right?![]() |

Maybe I'm just throwing a pity party, but seriously, I won't be upset to graduate in 2 and a half years. People always say college years are the best years of your life, but I feel like that's not necessarily true. I think maybe they're just preparing me for the best years yet to come. And for now I just have to suck it up and deal with the obnoxious dread that comes with going back to school after Christmas break.
