YouTube Recommendation: Annika Victoria
You know, I'm the movie blogger here on this little old blog, and while I can't say I've been the most consistent movie recommend-er or reviewer, I do feel like I've been doing much better at my job these last few months ever since I started the monthly Movie Madness reviews. But I've always wanted to review and recommend other types video media, because I watch A LOT of stuff, not just movies, and why shouldn't I let you guys in on all the cool stuff I discover?? So today I'm going to be talking about a YouTube channel I discovered recently that I have fallen completely and hopelessly in love with.
Annika Victoria

What?
I almost wish Annika's channel was called something else, because just her name doesn't really convey what her channel is all about. Annika's channel is dedicated to sewing tutorials. Many of you may have read that and tuned out because you're saying to yourself "Oh, well I don't know anything about sewing so I don't think I'd really care." Well guess what?? I don't know anything about sewing either, and I'm completely hooked on her videos. While some of her videos are quite advanced, a large majority of her videos are catered towards beginners or complete non-sewers.
Why?
What I absolutely love about her channel is her commitment to low cost upcycling of clothes, thrift shopping, and quirky unusual fashion. I also love that while she's incredibly talented and has been sewing for a long time, she still makes mistakes and still has to learn a lot of things as she goes. When she makes mistakes, she leaves them in the video and shows how she fixes her mistakes, which is really helpful because goodness knows, we peasants will make many mistakes when trying to make sewing projects ourselves. To be honest, I haven't sewn anything since 7th grade Home Ec, and since I discovered this YouTube channel at college, where I have no access to my overflowing craft supply collection, I haven't been able to follow any of Annika's tutorials yet. But rest assured, as soon as I get home this summer, I will be embarking on a clothing upcycling journey (which may or may not include learning how to sew?? I might just stick to Annika's no-sew DIYs for now).
When?
While I don't think Annika uploads videos a specific day every week, she uploads multiple videos a month, and is definitely active right now. (I hate when you find a new YouTube channel you love only to discover they haven't uploaded any new content in like a year.)
Where?
You can subscribe to Annika's YouTube channel here.

Which ones?
So Annika has a few different "series" on her channel, Get Thready With Me, which is a series where she shows viewers how to make projects that she invented herself; Make, Thrift, Buy, which is a series where viewers send in suggestions of clothes or accessories they've seen online and she tries to recreate them herself at a much lower cost; and The Style Pile, where she upcycles clothing that have been sitting in her unfinished sewing pile. She also has some vlog style videos, and some simple style videos as well. I watch primarily Make, Thrift, Buy, and sometimes The Style Pile and Get Thready With Me. Here are some of my favorite videos:
Some of these ways to upcycle your shirts are really easy and super cute!!
These cats socks are a simple beginner project, and I'm sure it would be easy to do different animals too.
This project I REALLY want to do!!
I have already informed SE and AB that when we get home for the summer, we're going to all make ourselves a pair of these homemade clear knee mom jeans. They seem complicated though, so I think we'll do a sketchy modified version using hot glue instead of, you know, a sewing machine.
Hope you enjoy this channel and all the amazing stuff it has to offer as much as I do!
