Here's to the Long Road

Yesterday Cassandra came and visited Temple and I gave her a tour of 1300 and my room and campus (it was a pretty crappy tour since you have to have an ID to get in pretty much anywhere and it was raining). Eventually we decided to eat at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and then we hung out with Haley and Melissa in one of the dining halls. Cassandra has become a pro jay-walker and pretty much stops for no red light and I'm like "YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!"...clearly I'm not quite a city slicker yet. It was so much fun being in the same city with someone I've known for the last seven years. Little sixth-grade Cassandra and SE had no idea all those years ago that they would be hanging out together in North Philly together when they're 18. It's interesting to see how we've each grown in the last few months and become our own people, apart from our hometown and high school, and yet we still have these shared connections to Smithsburg and high school and friends that we've known for so many years. The past gets us to the present and the present gets us to the future...we just gotta embrace it all and be thankful for the crappy things and the wonderful things because they get us to where we need to be.
I can't wait to see where life brings all of us in the next weeks, months, years, decades...I'm sure it will be a long and windy road full of amazing stories, cry-laughing (and just plain crying), but more than the road itself I'm excited to see who the journey brings along; all these past, present and future versions of our crazy, weird, messed-up, beautiful selves.
