This is literally so accurate.
Today SE and I went to see the movie The Secret Life of Pets.  The real reason for going to see this movie was to see MF at work. I've noticed that when planning to go see one's friend at work, you're always like "This is gonna be so fun, I can't wait to see them and talk to them and whatnot." but then once you actually get there, it's never quite what you expected because, well, they're working. It's not really the best opportunity for having a pow wow with your BFFs. But anyway, MF looked adorable in her uniform (jk, it's just a t-shirt), and she was very polite and efficient and even answered a phone call which made her seem all official. We basically talked to her for like thirty seconds at the beginning and then maybe two minutes at the end, but still. It was fun to see her in her working habitat. As for the movie itself, I'd probably give it 3.5 stars. It was cute, and I liked the beginning and the end because it showed the funny stuff that pets do around the house when the owners are away, and then what happens when the owners get back home. But the bulk of the movie was this ridiculous adventure that was basically just the plot from Finding Nemo redone with cats and dogs. And the occasional bunny or bird or other random pets. And it was surprisingly violent!!! It was shocking. I went into the movie thinking "this is a kids movie so it's not like they're going to kill anyone or hurt anybody" but then the two main characters basically murdered this blind one-toothed snake!!! And there was a running joke about a duck named Ricky that died. And then the two main dogs try to go back and find the one dog's old owner, and when they get to his house, there's new people and new pets, and the new cat is like "Oh, your old owner? He DIED!" If I were a little kid I would have cried!! And there was this completely random and unnecessary sequence where the two main dogs were frolicking around in "Wiener Kingdom" or something? Like do we REALLY need to make wiener jokes in kids movies? Isn't that a thing of the past? But the characters were all likable and cute. And I did genuinely laugh several times during the movie, so that was good. So I guess what I'm saying is if you're someone who likes animated movies more than I do, and you're cool with some furry violence, go for it. You'd probably really enjoy it.
