College Essays :(

I did not finish Unravel Me today. :(
But I did get my SAT scores back today and while I improved overall, I was hoping my math score would be higher. I'm still not sure about whether I'm going to retake it in the fall. It might just not be worth it. More and more, this whole college thing is becoming something I categorize as FATE and stop worrying about. Let the chips fall where they may.
Common App has released prompts for 2015-2016 applications and I feel like I could adequately answer exactly none of them. These are the prompts:

  1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
  2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
  3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
  4. Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
  5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.
I wouldn't even know how to begin. The questions are so open and yet super specific at the same time. I don't feel as if I've had any life-altering experiences or have a particularly interesting life in general. I hope the colleges I apply to have their own essay prompts because I'm not looking forward to answering any of those.

Day 579 Song Recommendation: "Ditmas" by Mumford & Sons. Their new album is pretty awesome.
