Pretty vs Beautiful
This was the second result for "beautiful people". |
I think most of us know that there is a difference between "pretty" and "beautiful". A lot of times "beautiful" is just a way of saying "even prettier than pretty". But I think that "pretty" is one of those words that is purely aesthetic. You can't really have a "pretty" personality. Pretty is a physical characteristic, something that other people determine for you and label you as. But beauty is something else entirely. Beauty isn't having nice hair and perfect skin and a model-esque body. Beauty can't be defined for you or taken from you, not if you're talking about the real kind of beauty that has nothing to do with your body, but is all about the actual person, and who that person is. Everyone has something that makes them beautiful, and it's not a physical attribute. Why is your best friend your best friend? Not because he or she is so good-looking, but because there's something about them that is just really incredible and beautiful. Why is it that everyone says "aw" when they see an old couple walking down the street together, holding hands? It's not because they're just so gosh darn pretty together, it's because they radiate beauty. Beauty is inside you. Of course, people call people beautiful all the time based on how they look, but true beauty comes from all around you. It's one of those undefinable things. You can't mold it to fit impossible standards, because giving standards to beauty takes away everything that's beautiful about it. Do more things that makes you beautiful.
