Great and Awful Book Covers

I'm back home, which means that I need to face the reality of the crap ton of homework I have to do. I've gotten half of my calculus homework finished, but I still have two world history chapters to read and an NHD project to do. Yay! I love you, school!

SWAG  I MISS YOU!!! -AB

Haha, I'm totally leaving that there, AB. I miss you too.

You know what I love doing? Making fake book covers. DL enjoys making fake album covers, but I'm really bad at that and they always look stupid, but I like making fake book covers. Maybe it's because I've seen so many awful book covers and I know how a good cover can change everything.
I'm going to go look at my bookshelf and pick out some great covers and some awful covers.

Great:
  • Shatter Me. Simple, yet brilliant, especially with the reflection of the bird in the eye.
  • Since You've Been Gone. I would have picked this book up and bought it just by looking at the cover. It just looks like one of those books where all of a sudden, you want it to be summer and you want to go on adventures and be someone else who's fun and crazy and spontaneous. Okay, now I'm starting to feel like I've taken too much from this cover. But there's more! When you flip over the jacket, there's another picture on the inside!!
  • Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I haven't seen a cover quite like this one before or since Miss Peregrine's. I love the mix-matched fonts too.

  • The Clearing. I remember wanting the girl in the photo's dress ever since I laid eyes on this cover. It's so pretty!
  • Where Things Come Back. I read this book two or three years ago and I still haven't made up my mind whether I liked it or not. I guess I did, since I remember it pretty well. I like the cover though, again because it's simple, and yet conveys one of the central topics well.

Awful:
  • Great Expectations. Bleh, just bleh. Granted, the book was bleh too.
  • The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I loved these books, but I'm always embarrassed by their covers. They look so juvenile.
  • The Wednesday Wars. Again, a very juvenile cover. Haven't read this one yet. Got it on clearance at 2nd and Charles.
  • Drums, Girls, & Dangerous Pie. Jet another juvenile cover. What I don't get is that these aren't juvenile books! Yes, they're written for teens, but TEENS ARE NOT KIDS!
  • Snapshots. The cover makes this book look like it's going to be really weird and sexual, but it's not. I've read it two or three times.

Day 402 Song Recommendation: "Do Not Let Me Go" by Joshua Hyslop. AB posted this song and I listened to it and really liked it! If you want to listen to it too, check out her post below.

  1. Creative crafting is an art of presenting strategies and imagination in text. It is a variety of producing that expresses and offers something in another way and in the type of artwork. Literature is a basic case in point pay to write my paper of what resourceful writing is and learners usually get to operate on this talent by means of their faculty and substantial university.
