The Hunger Games: Chilobeil

Today as a kick off to Thanksgiving Break, our school hosted The Hunger Games, dubbed the Chilobeil, which is a lame-o mash-up of our three administrators names. Admission to this auspicious event was four canned goods, which went to a food bank. Our little school collected over 2,000 cans of food, which is totally awesome. As for the assembly itself, it was a conglomerate of Minute to Win It games performed by students and faculty, nominated by other students and faculty. Our good friends MF and FZ competed in the games, and it was hilarious watching them eat donuts off strings and walk across the gym floor with donuts on their foreheads. I don't envy them though; I wouldn't have wanted to participate. I think it's pretty cool how many people actually brought in cans and went to the games. Two years ago, they did the same thing, and the turnout was lame at best. But this year the gym was nearly full and everybody who was there actually WANTED to be there, unlike normal pep rallies, where half the gym is sitting all mopey in the bleachers, texting on their phone or talking about how dumb everyone else is. Anyway, it was a great way to start off Thanksgiving break (although I'm still pretty bitter about all the homework I have to do over the break). Hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving spent with family or friends or both, and full of tons of yummy food. But, even if you spend Thanksgiving at a soup kitchen, just know that there are plenty of people out there who care deeply about you, enough to raise 2,000 cans just for you! I know that's not the same a huge turkey dinner, but it doesn't mean nothing.
